EPDM — the 50+ year single-ply roofing membrane
EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) is a synthetic rubber membrane used worldwide for flat and low-slope roofs. It stays flexible, resists UV and ozone, and outlasts nearly every other waterproofing material on the market.
What is EPDM?
EPDM is a cured synthetic rubber sheet produced in thicknesses from 1.1 to 2.0 mm and in widths up to 15 m — so most flat roofs can be covered in a single seamless piece. Unlike thermoplastics (TPO, PVC) which are welded with hot air, EPDM sheets are joined with self-adhesive tapes or vulcanised seams that become part of the membrane itself. The result is a fully bonded, watertight envelope with virtually no weak points.
